MORNINGSIDE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Dear Morningside Community,

'Tis the season of giving and gratitude! As we kick off the 2024 Holiday Giving Season for the Morningside Scholarship Fund, we're thrilled to step in as your new committee chairs, joined by Gayle Whittemore and Jeannine Daniel. A heartfelt thanks to our amazing predecessors, Lianne Hoyt (Chair), Lori Lothian, and Penny Crosby, whose dedication broke records and elevated awareness. Let's continue spreading the joy of giving together!

For club members who are familiar and those that are new, we'd like to share some important points about the Morningside Scholarship Fund.

• Since 2002, 54 recipients have received 122 awards totaling $617,000.00. Many recipients are renewal applicants who continue to advance their education!
• In 2024, grants were awarded to 10 renewal applicants and 4 new applicants totaling $60,800.00.
• The Morningside Scholarship Fund is an endowment fund managed by the Desert Community Foundation. The fund is used solely to support continuing education for Morningside club employees and their dependents, ranging from trade or vocational programs to Doctorate programs.
• Each year, applications are evaluated by the Desert Community Foundation's Scholarship Review Committee based on Academic Potential, Financial Need, Personal Strengths and Desire for Education. Scholarships are awarded to all students that meet the criteria, and scholarships are non-competitive.
• Club members and non-members may donate - and there are many ways to make your donation, including on behalf of or in honor of an individual or organization. See enclosed for options and instructions.

In the spirit of giving, we're thrilled to share a special opportunity to double your impact and help us reach our record-breaking goal of $100,000! Between now and December 31st, we, as your committee, are sponsoring a $10,000 Matching Gift Campaign. Every dollar you donate will be matched - up to $10,000 -making your generosity go even further. Let's come together to make this season truly magical!
