Established in 1982, The Morningside project was the culmination of a lifelong dream of real estate developer, Ed Johnsen. It was the second of two Ed Johnsen projects in the desert.
Morningside was the most upscale project in the desert at the time. Jack Nicklaus was brought in to design the golf course, a premier interior design firm from San Francisco designed the Clubhouse and the first teaching pro was the famous Claude Harmon, father of Butch Harmon, widely known as the premier teacher in the game of golf.

Today, Morningside is purely a private-equity club owned by the membership. Its niche in a desert full of clubs is the genuine camaraderie shared by members. Morningside's bylaws restrict the membership size to two hundred and twenty-five, which equates to three and one half hour rounds of golf, no tee time lotteries and no outside non-member events.
